What started as a dream to build a judgment-free, pink-and-faith-filled space for women who never stopped loving pink has turned into a real business — and real businesses need real space. So for the last several months, we've been on the hunt for our very own warehouse: a home base for fulfillment, for filming tutorials, and for finally having a place to call "ours."
What we didn't expect was how much that search would test us.
The Search Nobody Warns You About
When we started looking, we imagined it would be simple. Find a building, sign a lease, move in, get back to beads. What we've actually experienced has been a lot more like Jeremiah 29:11 in slow motion — a plan for hope and a future that doesn't always feel like it in the moment.
We've toured buildings that seemed perfect on paper and fell apart the second we asked real questions. We've had landlords go quiet after promising terms. We've had properties that checked every box except the one that mattered — sitting in a flood zone, or priced far beyond what a small, debt-free boutique should ever take on. We've negotiated, walked away, negotiated again, and reminded ourselves more than once that a "no" today isn't a "no" forever — it might just be God closing a door we weren't meant to walk through.
If you've ever searched for a commercial space, a house, or even just the right next step in your business, you know the feeling: hope going up, hope coming back down, and the quiet exhaustion of starting over. That's been our last few months, more times than we'd like to admit.
Holding Onto Prayer When the Answer Is "Not Yet"
Here's what we keep coming back to: this business was never built on our own strength, and it's not going to grow on our own strength either. Prickly Petal Boutique exists because we believe Jesus and pink can sit side by side — that faith isn't something you set aside when you're building a business, it's the whole foundation underneath it.
So when a warehouse deal falls through, we pray. When a potential landlord goes silent, we pray. When the numbers don't add up the way we hoped, we sit with it, we talk it through, and we pray some more. Not because prayer magically makes the paperwork easier, but because it reminds us who's actually navigating this journey. We're not doing this alone, and we were never meant to.
There's a verse we've leaned on more than once through this process: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." That's easy to say when things are going smoothly. It's a whole different thing to actually live it out while you're sitting across from a broker explaining, again, why a deal doesn't work for you. But that's exactly where faith gets real — not in the easy seasons, but in the waiting rooms.
Why We Haven't Settled
We could have said yes to a space by now. There have been buildings that were "good enough." But good enough isn't the standard we're building this company on. Every negotiation, every walk-away, every patient no has been about protecting something bigger than one deal: a business built debt-free, without personal risk, without cutting corners just to hit a deadline.
That kind of discipline is hard. It would be so much easier some days to just say yes and stop looking. But we believe God's timing is better than our impatience, and that the right warehouse — the one that's actually meant for Prickly Petal Boutique — is still ahead of us, not behind a compromise we'd regret.
So we keep touring buildings. We keep negotiating with a level head and a walk-away-ready heart. And we keep praying that when the right space finally opens up, we'll recognize it — and that everything that fell through before it will make sense in hindsight.
What This Space Will Actually Become
When we do find our warehouse, it won't just be a place to pack orders. It's going to be a true home base for this business — a space for fulfilling orders, filming bead tutorials, and building the next chapter of Prickly Petal Boutique from the ground up. We're even dreaming up signage for the entryway already (yes, really — that's how much we believe it's coming).
It's going to be pink. It's going to be ours. And it's going to be proof that slow, faithful, prayed-over growth is worth more than a rushed decision made out of fear or frustration.
